Birdland Caravan's Saturday Events Grounded by Winter Storm
In a move prioritizing safety, the highly anticipated Birdland Caravan events scheduled for Saturday, January 24, have been grounded due to the menacing winter storm looming over the south, east, and mid-Atlantic regions. This decision also extends to the Oriole Bird and Mr. Splash Meet & Greet, originally set for Friday afternoon at Weis Markets Bel Air.
But here's the catch: fans who purchased tickets for Saturday's Breakfast with the O's and Duckpin Bowling will receive a full refund, as the Orioles organization takes responsibility for the cancellation. This refund process will be communicated via email on Thursday, ensuring fans are not left in the dark.
The cancellation decision was a collaborative effort, involving trusted meteorologists and adhering to the Governor's State of Preparedness Order. It reflects a commitment to the well-being of fans, staff, players, and vendors, especially those traveling from areas also in the storm's path.
And this is where it gets tricky: the storm's impact on travel has led to adjustments in player attendance for Friday's events. Adley Rutschman and Tyler Wells will now grace Arcade Happy Hour at GameOn, while Craig Albernaz, Samuel Basallo, and Dylan Beavers will be at Flight Night, Guinness Open Gate Brewery.
We appreciate our dedicated fans who journey from all corners to cheer on their beloved team. Their safety is paramount, and we urge them to heed the Governor's emergency preparedness advice and stay updated via weather.gov.
While this cancellation may be a letdown for many, we're already looking ahead to future events with O's Alumni and mascots, building excitement for Opening Day on March 26 against Minnesota. Stay tuned for more details!
We'll keep a vigilant eye on the weather forecast and provide updates as necessary, ensuring fans are informed every step of the way. But is it fair to cancel events due to weather, or should organizers try to push through? Share your thoughts in the comments!
