Wendell Elementary Students Safe After Firefighters Respond to School (2026)

Wendell Elementary was the scene of a safety incident that kept students out of their classrooms, with firefighters arriving to assist and influence the day’s schedule. The situation required the school to postpone returning to lessons, cancel after-school activities, and maintain the standard dismissal time for the day.

According to a message delivered to families, firefighters determined that students could not resume instruction on Wednesday. As a result, students were seated for lunch in designated areas: K–2 students in the gym and 3–5 students in the auditorium, as noted in the communication.

Because the day was nearing its end, officials decided against an early release. Students were released at the usual time of 3:00 p.m. The notice also reminded parents and guardians that anyone picking up a child would need to present photo identification.
