As of Sunday, December 14, 2025, snow removal efforts are in full swing at the WVU Morgantown Campus, preparing for the start of finals on Monday, December 15. While the university plans to proceed with exams as scheduled at 8 a.m., it’s acknowledging the challenges posed by the weather. And this is the part most people miss: WVU is encouraging instructors to work with students who can’t safely travel to campus, allowing for alternate arrangements. Finals week will continue through Friday, December 19, and the full schedule is available online for reference.
Campus operations will resume as usual on Monday, though some services may be limited due to weather conditions. Here’s where it gets controversial: Talent and Culture is urging supervisors to let hybrid employees work remotely if travel is unsafe, but what happens when remote work isn’t an option for everyone? Employees are advised to discuss their situations directly with their supervisors, but this raises questions about equity in flexibility. For WVU Health Sciences faculty, staff, and students in patient care or clinical rotations, it’s crucial to check with their respective leaders about in-person requirements—a reminder that not all roles can adapt to weather disruptions.
Updates on scheduling and weather conditions will be shared through multiple channels, including the WVU Safety Notification System, MIX email, and various social media platforms like X, Instagram, and Facebook. But here’s a thought-provoking question: With so many communication channels, how can the university ensure everyone receives critical updates in time? Additionally, decisions for WVU Institute of Technology and WVU Potomac State College will be made independently based on local conditions, while WVU Extension will follow its own inclement weather policy.
